iiO (pronounced "eye-oh") is a New York City-based house music act composed solely of producer and songwriter Markus Moser. Former member, co-producer, vocalist and songwriter Nadia Ali left the group in 2005. The group is best known for their 2001 single "Rapture", which reached number 2 on the UK singles chart and US Hot Dance Club Play charts.
While 17 years old, Ali was working in the New York offices of Versace, and aspiring to start a music career, when a co-worker introduced her to producer Markus Moser, who was looking for a female singer to collaborate on some of his original dance music production.[1] The two teamed up and started a group that was originally named "Vaiio," named after the Sony laptop Nadia was working on. They later dropped the "va" to avoid causing problems in the future with Sony. Working with Moser, she wrote the lyrics and the vocals for the songs.[2]

iiO is best known for its 2001 hit "Rapture", released as single in 2002, the lyrics to which were allegedly inspired by a meeting that occurred between Ali and an unidentified nightclub patron. The video for "Rapture" was directed by Andy Hylton. iiO followed up "Rapture" with several successful remixes of the track by producers John Creamer & Stephane K, Armin Van Buuren and Deep Dish. The latest remix of rapture was produced by Avicii, a swedish house music DJ who has recently seen success and been voted into the top 100 of DJ mag's best DJ's.[3] A large number of bootleg and white label remixes ensued, including a highly-sought Paul Van Dyk remix. After "Rapture" was released, the duo followed with "At the End" in 2003. The release featured remixes by The Scumfrog and Saeed & Palash. The duo subsequently released "Smooth" in 2003 and "Runaway" in 2004.

iiO's first album, Poetica, was delayed several times and released independently in March 2005 on Made Records, and worldwide in June 2006. "Kiss You" was the first single released to promote the album, followed by "Is It Love?".

By the time Poetica was released Ali had left iiO to pursue a solo career, while Markus continued to release material featuring her on the vocals. These include the 2007 release Reconstruction Time: The Best Of iiO Remixed.
