Depressive, Dark, A Work Of Art - 97% Written by Nattefrost1349 on March 14th, 2008
After I purchased this album I thought it would be another raw, static filled, Depressive black metal album, although I had always love Leviathan, but Massive Conspiracy Against Life is nothing short of a classic production.
This album is high quality and has a lot of epic features that are rarely found in black metal, like all sorts of guitar string tapping and other sounds that are usually found in metal sub-genres besides black metal, the guitar work has a lot of passion in it and you can feel the depression and hatred that leeks through your speakers!
The vocals are almost like Abbath from Immortal's, in a way I look at Leviathan as a more down-tempo, depressive version of Immortal, this album really shows that because you can hear everything very clearly, it has a lot of vocals overlapping, such as howls below growls and screeches. It shows a lot of the vocal overlapping in the first song "Sacred Scars"
The most unique track on this album is definitely "Seamless Garment As The Morning" it barley has any guitar in it nor bass, it is basically mesmerizing, Hypnotic drums and different sound effects from keyboards, toward the middle there is a throat-cutting guitar riff that continues through the chorus and in some other parts.
This whole album shows you what Leviathan truly is, all of the songs have a lot of work and passion put into it, the songs almost seem to blend together which makes the album basically one long tale of depression and darkness.
This is without a doubt one of the greatest albums depressive black metal, and black metal has ever seen. Its an absolute classic and i think everyone needs to take a good listen to this album, even if you aren't into down-tempo depressive black metal, this is just a great album i really don't know what else to say other than the word "Masterpiece"
