Cleaning:

1. Apply Phoenix cleaning fluid w/ enzymes and scrub with Mobile Fidelity brush
2. Steam #1 with McCulloch steamer and wipe clean
3. Steam #2 Rinse with RO/DI water
4. Dry with microfiber cloth
5. Air dry on drying rack
6. Clean stylus w/ Mr. Clean magic eraser and dry brush with Audioquest brush prior to needledrop

Capture:

1. Capture entire side in 32bit - 96khz with Adobe Audition 3.0, adjust gain levels on EMU 0202 so that peaks are around -3db
2. Check RMS statistics, level off left and right power levels if necessary (not needed here)
3. ClickRepair between 10-15 / Decrackle 0 / Wavelet x2 / Reverse / PP
3. Manual repair of remaining clicks using Adobe Audition
4. Run fade-in/fade-out routines, cut sides into individual 32 bit WAV files
5. Run IsotopeRX Advanced for SRC/Dither to 24/96 and 16/44

About the Music:

This is probably still my favorite Wilco album after all of these years. I do recognize and appreciate that Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is critically and artistically the better album, and my love for both is very close. Yet, I keep coming back to Summerteeth more often. I think it has a lot to do with the fond memories I have of that particular time in my life, fresh out of college and wondering what the future held for me. Oh, and an absolutely killer live show in Boston that summer (my first ever Wilco show) certainly doesn't hurt the memories either! If you want more gory details, you know where to find em.

Technical Notes:

The CD release of this was such a tragedy, and I never really knew it until recently. I am not sure if Summerteeth was remastered for release on vinyl -- I don't *think* it was, but I could be wrong. This was pressed at RTI so it's up to their usual quality standards. It's a lot smoother and mellower than the CD, that's for sure. There were some really challenging parts ... some long hours manually repairing clicks that I would care not to remember ... in the end though, I think it was worth it. It took a while for me to get this out since I debated for the longest time whether or not to scrap the whole thing and reclean / redo everything because of the difficulty in declicking the quiet parts... But as I got through the ripmaking process, things got better and the second LP went a lot speedier than the first. So, here it is!
